In a world of constant change, new ideas are essential – but how can human creativity be combined with the possibilities of AI? Using the vision of Graz as the City of Design in the year 2100 as a case study, two workshops by the designer collective GUSSMAGG&FRIENDS demonstrate how different creativity techniques, tools and methods can interlock to develop a future vision within just one day.
The approach: analogue meets digital. In the morning workshop, participants create tactile prototypes of a possible future. In the afternoon, these designs are transformed into digital animations using state-of-the-art AI tools. The results – along with the entire creative process – will be presented at an exclusive evening event.
The analogue level: Design Thinking Sprint
Together, participants develop an exaggerated vision of Graz’s urban landscape – a sci-fi scenario set far in the future, depicting a successful social, ecological and economic transformation.
This workshop not only dares to look more than 70 years ahead, it also offers a practical introduction to the innovation method “Design Thinking Sprint” in a creative setting. Highly hands-on, the session provides a fast-track overview of solution-oriented creativity using analogue visualisation tools.
