How can human creativity be combined with the possibilities of AI? Using the vision of Graz as the City of Design in the year 2100 as an example, two workshops by the designer collective GUSSMAGG&FRIENDS demonstrate how different creativity techniques, tools and methods can interconnect to develop a future vision within a single day.
The approach: analogue meets digital. While the morning workshop focuses on creating tactile prototypes of a possible future, these designs are transformed in the afternoon into digital animations using cutting-edge AI tools. The results – along with the entire creative process – will be presented at an exclusive evening event.
The digital level: Generative AI tools for video clips
Following the morning Design Thinking Sprint, in which participants developed a highly exaggerated vision of Graz’s urban future, a new workshop group takes over in the afternoon, transforming the tactile model into the digital realm. Using AI tools and specialised workflows, the analogue sketches are refined, enhanced and brought to life in short video sequences. By the end of the day, the first digital prototypes of the Graz 2100 vision will be ready to present.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to generate images and videos using AI tools and well-crafted prompts. They’ll also gain an understanding of how different tools can be combined to produce compelling visualisations. The workshop is highly hands-on and offers a fast-track overview of AI tools and how to use them.
