What can a garden mean for queer spaces? A guided tour through the »Queer Garden« of the »designfrische Residency 2025« invites visitors to explore, question and reflect.

What happens when designers, artists and gardeners come together to think about queer spaces in green environments? During the one-week »designfrische Residency 2025«, a wide range of design and gardening approaches emerged in the garden of the »Absteige zur bärtigen Therese« – open, experimental, and inquisitive.
A garden that invites reflection
The tour offers visitors insights into approaches that aim less to provide answers than to stimulate thought:
- How can queer spaces be rooted in rural areas?
- What role can a garden play for the LGBTIQ+ community?
- How can Queer Ecologies or Ecosexuality be experienced in a garden context?
- And what might a place look like that enables respectful relationships across species boundaries?
The resulting works encourage a view of nature as a social and political fabric – and the garden as a space for new forms of coexistence.
