As part of Design Month Graz, the »GrazGuides« will take visitors on specially curated design tours through the »UNESCO City of Design«, with selected stops at »Design in the City« locations – including insider tips. Participation is free of charge; registration is requested.

The meeting point for the kick-off tour, which will be held in English and starts on 10 May 2025 at 12.30, is Weinbar Klapotetz, Herrengasse 9, 8010 Graz. The following stops will be visited:

Carpet gallery GEBA

with Harald Geba

Located in the heart of the old town, Teppichgalerie Geba is a special place with over 500 years of history. The art installation »Glad Senses« by Guy Lafranchi (not present), presented during Design Month alongside a carpet designed by Harald Geba, also tells stories – of Nepalese carpet-making and the families who have been weaving for Geba for decades.

IN OPTIK

with project initiator Gabriele Brandhofer from AUTwool

A sleeveless wool vest with no plastic, made entirely of local virgin wool and produced 100% in Austria: the 2024 windbreaker by AUTwool will be on display at the Graz-based optician IN OPTIK during Design Month.

Kunst & Kulturverein Am Glacis

with Cornelius Réer

Edda Ruckenbauer-Schaupp has made it her mission to restore value to craft and design in an era of mass production and throwaway culture. Kunst & Kulturverein Am Glacis is hosting the exhibition “Von der Schönheit des Alltags” (On the Beauty of the Everyday), featuring vessels by Nuremberg-based glassmaker Cornelius Réer.

Galerie Gebhart Blazek

The MLrug project by Maximilian Blazek and Ida Hausner explores the intersection of analogue weaving and digital AI image generation: patterns of Moroccan rugs are interpreted by AI, then re-knotted by hand by female weavers – now on display as part of Design Month Graz 2025.
