Born in Java in 1930, Eilfried Huth was one of the first protagonists to make an effective commitment to participatory housing projects and to implement pioneering buildings. As an early member of Forum Stadtpark, he played a key role in shaping the architecture division and continues to be associated with the multi-disciplinary house. He has also been a member of the HDA since its founding. For many years he was professor of architecture at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, but never gave up his office and residence in Graz. His architectural work, over several years very successful together with Günther Domenig, is known far beyond Austria.
Few people know that Huth has been painting since the beginning of his involvement with architecture. Here, too, space is measured and reference is made. Here inner worlds are materialized. The exhibition lebenslang malen in the Blazek Gallery is dedicated to this painting. In addition to the paintings, the film “My Dream House is Castles in the Air” by Julia Gaisbacher and Ulrich Reiterer, which was made in 2019 in the course of the exhibition of the same name at Forum Stadtpark as a commissioned work of the Styrian Cultural Initiative, and “flags” from the Huth estate, which represent exemplary different projects from Huth’s rich oeuvre and were also on view at Forum Stadtpark in 2019, will be shown. A catalog will be published by Forum Stadtpark Verlag to accompany the exhibition.
