Deepfakes, virtual reality, and algorithmically generated content are reshaping our perception of what is real. Design can reinforce authenticity – but it can also contribute to distortion. So what does this mean for good and responsible design?

Designers are challenged not only to develop aesthetic and functional solutions, but also to critically engage with the ethical and philosophical questions behind the merging of reality and virtuality. How does artificial intelligence influence the creative process? Where is the boundary between natural and artificial design? And what is the role of the human being in this new reality?

A large hall is transformed into an immersive experience that dissolves the boundaries between reality and virtuality. »The New Real« presents AI-generated video contributions on key aspects of everyday life and questions the meaning of authenticity in an increasingly digital world.

49 internationally renowned AI artists with different design approaches to AI art contributed videos and images to create an overall experience in the exhibition hall. Light and spatial design heighten the feeling of moving between different dimensions – a modern ghost train of the future that invites reflection on truth, deception, and the role of design in an AI-driven world.
