Artificial intelligence has long been part of the design process—but what happens when it is deliberately excluded? In the workshop “T4T – Tools for Transformation”, third-semester Industrial Design students at FH JOANNEUM invite participants to rediscover analogue creativity in the digital age.

Creativity Beyond Digital Boundaries

At the heart of the workshop is a protected space that eliminates digital influences. A passageway—reminiscent of airport security checkpoints—separates the AI-driven outside world from the analogue interior. Within this space, designs take shape without digital recordings or AI assistance. The goal is to examine the interaction between analogue and digital creative processes and to explore new, unfiltered approaches.

Get Involved and Be Creative

Participants are invited to actively engage in various design processes. All creations are ephemeral—they exist only during the workshop. At the end of Design Month, all results will be dismantled. No digital recordings or AI-assisted tools are allowed. What remains are experiences and memories of creativity that exists beyond digital control.

This workshop offers the opportunity to experiment with subversive design approaches—through analogue methods and a creative exploration of the question: How does creativity change when digital technologies are intentionally left out?
