This is where creative minds meet – and industrial chic meets concentrated national and international design power. Exhibitions, workshops and other interactive formats bring the abandoned industrial site to life for three weeks. The Festival Centre is open daily from 11.00 to 18.00 and invites you to return again and again.

The New Real
Design between Truth and Deception
»The New Real« creates an immersive experience, dissolving the boundaries between reality and virtuality. AI-generated video contributions on key aspects of daily life – from mobility and architecture to fashion – question the meaning of authenticity in an increasingly digitalised world. | Programme

Oracles of Possible Futures
What does the future look like – or rather: what futures are even possible? As an interactive walk-in installation, »Oracles of Possible Futures« by Argentinian media designer Eduardo Fuhrmann presents future scenarios that invite reflection on technology, society, and our role in the world. | Programme

Rebel Prints
“Silence is not an option” – this is the key message the German artist duo Poster Rex conveys with their poster series »Rebel Prints«, intended as a counter-design to populist propaganda. Additional works will be created live on site during screen-printing workshops, becoming part of the exhibition. Visitors can also print their own posters. | Programme

What is, is more than it is
Was ist, ist mehr, als es ist
Internationally acclaimed graphic artist Eike König is known for bold statements and subtle nuances. He presents a selection of his “language images”, blending typography, pop art and contemporary design techniques to address social processes, consumer critique, high and pop culture, as well as existential questions. | Programme

Design for Transformation
This exhibition showcases work by »Industrial Design« students from FH JOANNEUM and offers insights into their design process. It is centered around the question what responsibility design bears in a changing world. As AI blurs the lines between the real and the virtual, the need for a conscious, ethical approach to technology grows. | Programme

ADNA Academic Design Network Austria
How does design shape our future reality? And how can education foster innovation? Addressing these core questions, this showcase presents critical projects and research results by students from Austrian design universities such as FH JOANNEUM, New Design University St. Pölten, FH Vorarlberg and FH Salzburg. | Programme

Stitching the Centuries
Traditional craftsmanship reimagined: Some of the finest silk embroidery patterns of the Middle Ages were discovered in books at the University of Graz library. While their origin and purpose are still being researched, ten designers from Graz and CovilhĂŁ have created contemporary interpretations of the patterns, now on display. | Programme

Design plus
Students from the »Exhibition Design« Master’s programme at FH JOANNEUM present their exhibition concepts under the title »Design plus«. Topics range from sustainability, inclusion and emotion to virtual reality and “invisible design” in everyday life. | Programme

… of Air and Love / … von Luft und Liebe
Curated especially for Design Month, HTBLVA Graz Ortweinschule presents a selection of graduation projects and works by students from its “Art & Design” department, covering disciplines from sculpture and object design to film, multimedia art and product design. | Programme

Rage Room
Free yourself from old design and make room for something new in a joyful act of creative destruction. Bring personal design items you no longer need to the Rage Room and say goodbye to them however you like – if necessary, wearing a protective suit, helmet and wielding a sledgehammer. | Programme

Re:Space
Why does vacancy exist, and what impact does it have on urban environments and their communities? Using best-practice examples from Graz and showcasing real-world implementations at Hornig Areal, this interactive exhibition explores the potential of vacant spaces and how they can be reactivated. | Programme

Design-Clinic
First aid for design emergencies: Over 60 experts from a wide range of disciplines offer free initial consultations as part of the »Design-Clinic« and »Digital-Clinic«. Both acute and chronic aesthetic concerns as well as digital issues can be addressed and remedied on site by professionals. | Programme

Bilder sprechen Wände
The society “Raum 117” transforms the walls of the Festival Centre, Hornig Areal, into a dynamic graffiti landscape. The works respond to this year’s focus theme »The New Real« and address sociopolitical questions. | Programme
