The series LZ#2 LANDSCHAFTSZÄSUREN – Prager Duo is a further development of the serial photographic work LZ#1 – Landschaftszäsuren from 2015. It consists of central perspective shots of the undersides of bridges that have been designed for car traffic. The photographs are intended to show that even purely functionally designed structures have an aesthetic that was not intended in the first place and document atmospheric changes that have arisen from the purpose-optimized interruption of the landscape.

This perception is not apparent to every observer. The bridges and especially their soffits are usually perceived as part of the roadway of a main traffic route during regular use. In order to bring the material side and the weight of the individual motifs to a common denominator, each photograph in the series was exposed on a square concrete plate coated with photo emulsion measuring 31x31x5cm and weighing approx. 12kg.

The existing concept from 2015 was revised and expanded in LZ#2. The series consists of two photographs of bridges on the Prague highway network. The spatial qualities of an interruption of the cityscape are juxtaposed with an interruption of the landscape and placed in relation to each other. The level of the inherent history of the photographed bridges was integrated into the concept. The format of the concrete slabs was enlarged to 60x70x5cm in order to emphasize the tense negative space between the functional structure and its context.
